Selected by the International Festival of the Arts Costa Rica FIA 2014 in the category of urban intervention, the work Fish Gardens by the artist Christopher Unpezverde Nunez portrays urban tribes as a way of shoal. Large crowds in confined spaces like any city in the world.
Seleccionada por el Festival Internacional de las Artes de
Costa Rica FIA 2014 en la categoría de intervención urbana, la obra Jardines de
peces del artista Christopher Unpezverde Núñez retrata las tribus urbanas a
manera de cardumen. Grandes aglomeraciones en espacios delimitados como
cualquier ciudad del mundo.
For this purpose about 15 thousand fish were distributed in five city parks for two weeks. All drawn and hand cut by the same artist. Turning spaces in recreational areas.
Para dicho propósito se utilizaron cerca de 15 mil peces que
fueron distribuidos en cinco parques de la ciudad durante dos semanas. Todos
dibujados y cortados a mano por el mismo artista. Convirtiendo los espacios en zonas lúdicas.
The purpose was to invite passers-by to play by different designs, intervene them, change them or even take one of the pieces.
El propósito era invitar al transeúnte a jugar por los diferentes diseños, intervenirlos, cambiarlos o inclusive llevarse una de las piezas.
Each day the artist returned to his studio to prepare hundreds of fish more in order to replace those that had been carried. Then got back to places where the shoals were and arming them for hours until completed again.
Cada día el artista regresaba a su estudio para preparar cientos de peces más con el propósito de sustituir los que ya se habían llevado. Regresaba a los lugares donde se encontraban las instalaciones y armaba los cardúmenes por horas hasta completarlos nuevamente.
The kids were fascinated.
Los niños estaban fascinados.
And the adults wanted to help and participate in the process.
Y los adultos querían ayudar y participar del proceso.
The rain and wind destroyed thousands of them daily.
La lluvia y el viento destruyeron miles de ellos con los días.
But in the end thousands of fish found a new home and the work was a success.
Pero al final miles de peces encontraron un nuevo hogar y la obra fue todo un éxito.
